Site Notices let you place an important message near the top of your club website. They are useful for announcements that visitors should see quickly, such as registration updates, schedule changes, pool closures, event reminders, or other time-sensitive information.
Site Notices are managed from the Site area in Administration.
When to use a Site Notice
Use a Site Notice when the message is important enough to appear across the website.
Common examples include:
- Registration is open
- A pool or facility closure
- A holiday schedule change
- An upcoming deadline
- Important event information
- A reminder for members or account holders
For regular news updates, use a news/blog post instead. A Site Notice is best for short, visible announcements that need immediate attention.
Create a Site Notice
- Go to Administration.
- Open the Site area.
- Find the Site Notices section.
- Create a new notice.
- Enter the notice title and choose the appropriate display options.
- Save the notice.
You can save a notice as a draft while preparing it, then publish it when it is ready.
Write a clear notice title
The title is the main message visitors will see on the website.
Keep it short and direct.
Good examples:
- Registration is now open
- Pool closure on Friday
- Holiday schedule update
- Meet declaration deadline approaching
Avoid long explanations in the title. If more detail is needed, use the notice details option or link visitors to the appropriate page.
Choose who should see the notice
A notice can be shown publicly to all website visitors or only to users who are signed in.
Use a public notice for general announcements. Use a signed-in notice for information intended only for members, parents, account holders, coaches, or other logged-in users.
Add a link or more details
A Site Notice can be a simple announcement, or it can give visitors a next step.
You may choose to:
- Show the notice only
- Link the notice to another page
- Show more details in a popup window
Linking to another page works well for registration pages, event pages, schedules, news posts, or other existing website content.
The details option is useful when the announcement needs a short explanation but does not need a full web page.
Schedule when the notice appears
Use the start and end dates to control when the notice appears on the website.
The start date controls when the notice can begin appearing. The end date is optional and can be left blank if you plan to remove or archive the notice manually.
For temporary announcements, setting an end date is recommended so the notice does not remain visible longer than intended.
Use the style carefully
Choose a visual style that matches the importance of the message.
For example, a general reminder may use an informational style, while a closure or urgent change may use a warning style.
Avoid using urgent styles too often. If every notice looks urgent, visitors may stop paying attention.
Preview before publishing
Use the preview to check how the notice will look before it is published.
Before publishing, confirm that:
- The title is clear
- The dates are correct
- The audience is correct
- Any link or details content works as expected
Managing old notices
When a notice is no longer needed, archive or remove it from the active list.
Keeping old notices cleaned up makes it easier to manage current announcements and prevents outdated information from staying on the website.
Tips for effective Site Notices
Keep the message short.
Use a link when the visitor needs to take action.
Use details only when the notice needs extra explanation.
Set an end date for temporary announcements.
Use urgent styling only for genuinely important messages.
Review active notices regularly, especially during busy registration or meet periods.
