Overview
Localization in Pool Queue allows you to define and manage multiple languages for your site's menu items, providing a tailored experience for users in different locales.
Key Features
-
Primary Locale Definition
- Each menu item has a default title corresponding to the primary locale of your site.
- This title is used when no other locale-specific title is available.
-
Additional Locales
- You can define additional locales, such as French, Spanish, or any other language supported by your site.
- For each defined locale, you can provide a locale-specific title for each menu item.
How to Configure Localization
-
Define Locales
- Navigate to "Setup / Site" in the Administrative area to define the locales for your site.
- Add the primary locale and any additional locales you need.
-
Access the CMS
- Go to "Site" in the Administrative area.
- Select the menu item you wish to localize or add a new menu item.
-
Define the Primary Locale Title
- Input the default title for the menu item. This title will be used as the primary locale.
- Ensure this title is clear and descriptive, as it will be the fallback title for users in undefined locales.
-
Add Additional Locale Titles
- In the localization settings for the menu item, you will see a list of available locales.
- For each locale, input the specific title for the menu item. This title will be displayed to users in that locale.
-
Save the Configuration
- After defining the titles for the primary and additional locales, save your changes.
- The localized titles will be immediately reflected on the public-facing menu items for users in the corresponding locales.
Example
Imagine you have a menu item called "About Us" in English (the primary locale). You want to add French and Spanish titles for this menu item.
- Primary Locale: About Us
- French Locale: À propos de nous
- Spanish Locale: Sobre nosotros
After configuring these titles in the localization settings, French-speaking users will see "À propos de nous" and Spanish-speaking users will see "Sobre nosotros" in the menu, while others will see "About Us".
Best Practices
- Consistency: Ensure that the titles in different locales convey the same meaning and intent.
- Clarity: Keep titles clear and concise for better user understanding.
- Review: Regularly review and update the localized titles to maintain accuracy and relevance.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage and display multilingual content, providing a seamless and inclusive experience for all users.
